June 3rd...What a Day!

June 3rd was quite a whirlwind of both nerves and excitement in the Regan household. Jay had a job interview for a teaching position in the morning. My parents helped me all day preparing for Penny's party. And we had her party at the neighborhood pool in the evening. I was so thankful for all of parents' help. Mom helped me make a cute Hello Kitty cake. Dad did all of the BBQ-ing. And Jay's parents brought a wonderful fruit platter that got eaten up quickly. Penny helped me make some Thai agar gelatins. She also worked on a project to make a picture poster board showing how she has changed over the years. We had Japanese teriyaki chicken legs and Isaan (Northeastern Thailand) style chicken legs as well as hot dogs. Several friends were able to make it. And one of her friends actually called from Japan to tell her she was sorry that she couldn't make it since she was on a business trip with her dad. Penny played her "khim" (Thai hammered dulcimer) for entertainment. She chose Korean, Thai and Chinese music to play on a boom box by the pool. They had fun hitting a pinata. And everyone got big laughs when two ducks landed in the pool. It was a very fun party, to be sure! I think Jay was feeling a little beat since he had that job interview in the morning. Now we wait to hear back. He's also begun applying for several bank teller positions, as well. We'll let you know if he gets a job.
