Christmas/New Year's Then vs. Now

Some reflections on where we were and what we were doing a year ago vs. this year for Christmas and New Year's. We were overseas in 2008/2009 from Dec. 5th-Jan. 10th. Words can't describe the variety of sights, sounds, scenarios we encountered in Japan and Thailand for over one month. We almost ended up going to Cambodia, as well, since we were about to overstay our already extended visas. But, after a political protesters taking over the airports and a Senatorial investigation, in the end we finally were able to bring our lovely teenage daughter home to Colorado. At that time she was thin, scared and quiet. Now she is muscular, talkative and closely bonding with us. We were in 90 degree weather at Lumphini Park in Bangkok for Christmas day in 2008. In 2009 we were snowed in with a two-day blizzard blowing around us at a friend's cabin in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Here are a few photos to show the contrasts.
