The next day, Day 2, we drove up to Madison, SD, passing through the towns where Chandra went to school and by the home where she spent most of her growing up years. Also, on the way up there we stopped at a museum in Norfolk, NE which houses many items of memorabilia from Johnny Carson, since that was his hometown.
We had lots of fun and made silly faces with this funny chicken and when we sat at Johnny's desk.
Next we drove through the town where I (Chandra) went to high school and on to my childhood home. Here are pictures of my childhood home. It was sad to see that the condition of the house is going downhill with the siding in bad shape. But it was good to see it, again.
After that we drove through the town where I went to school from 4th grade through 8th grade. It was strange to see an entirely new building for this K-12 school. No more old brick building without an elevator and with fallout shelter signs!
After that, we also drove nearby where my grandparents had lived for a number of years. It's the yellow/tannish stucco house down the block.
Finally, we checked into our hotel in Madison and we ate out at a Mexican restaurant that night.
