We celebrated the Thai New Year on April 11th. That morning Penny dressed up in her Thai dress. She also dressed up the Friday before for a cultural presentation she did for her ELA (English Language Acquisition) class that she put on. For the Thai New Year she only wanted to dress up for church. So, we stopped and picked up her Chinese friend and then stopped by the house to change clothes. Next we headed over to the Bangkok Asian Market here in Fort Collins to take in on the celebrations. The store owners and their friends provided a buffet of free food. Penny's Math teacher came along with her two adopted girls from China. Also, Penny's Korean friend came, as well. Afterwards, Penny went with her Chinese friend to a free cultural event for kids at CSU (Colorado State University). CSU has lots of great free events. The Saturday before the Thai New Year we went to their free open house at their vet hospital. It's famous around the world. In fact, the famous Bart the Bear was treated there for cancer. We had great food and fun. Tonight we head off to Penny's Awards Ceremony. She and several other ELA students are being honored for their outstanding entries for the "Proud to Be Bilingual" presentations. She's totally downplaying it and saying that she could care less about it. But, we're very proud of her for all the hard work she has been doing and how much she has been learning and growing.
