Our California Trip
Well, it's taken me almost a week to finally post about our trip to California. But, we've just been so busy with trying to catch up with our daily lives since coming back. Jay had just one day to rest before starting his new job at the Credit Union. Penny had plenty of homework to catch up on and I'm still trying to catch up with laundry, housework, etc. We're happy to be home but really enjoyed our quick trip to L.A.

The main purpose for our trip, as many of you know, was to register our daughter's adoption at the Thai Royal Embassy/Consulate. This was the final step required by the Thai government, although it was already legally finalized according to the Juvenile Court in Denver. Her adoption was finalized on June 23rd, 2009. We registered this news at the Thai Consulate on October 14th, 2010. It took all of fifteen minutes. The woman behind the glass was all business. She pulled our paperwork from her pile and began handing us forms. Her only words were, "Sign...Mother, Father." She said this with about four or five pieces of papers. Then she took all three of our passports to a back room to make copies. And that was it! The receptionist at the front desk was very friendly and kind. She spoke quite a bit in Thai to Penny, encouraging her to keep up her Thai. She even gave her some free Thai snacks. After that we went to Thai Town in Hollywood and had a great lunch at a Thai cafe. Then we visited Beverly Hills and the Santa Monica Pier.
We also took in visiting several other beaches,

the Creation and Earth History Museum in Santee, visiting Jay's relatives in Quail Valley, friends in Anaheim and San Diego and...of course, DISNEYLAND!

This, of course, was Penny's favorite. It seems that Mickey and Minnie may have kicked Hello Kitty out of her place as number one character in our daughter's world. We had a lot of fun, but almost never saw the sun while we were there. It peaked out for a short time in the afternoon while we were at Disneyland. There are too many pictures to choose from but I'll post a few of my favorites here. Hopefully, I'll get the rest posted soon on Facebook.

What a great feeling to have all the paperwork finalized! Penny looks so happy...and getting tall!
Chandra,
Love the photos! Wow! Penny is growing up SO fast. She's just beautiful!
Glad you guys are back safely and glad you have that last thing off of your checklist! Penny is such a beautiful young lady with a gorgeous smile! I love to see her excitement at Disneyland.
What fun family time and can you believe the end to paperwork. Penny is growing up. Miss you all!
The Arnolds:)
What an experience to go to Disney Land and to numerous beaches all in one vacation. Can you imagine that before you adopted this beautiful Thai girl, that she never thought that she would have a family that would love her as much as you all do, and never thinking that she would see what the world was like outside of the orphanage. Now, all because God had her in you family plans, she can now do so much more, and grow closer to her Creator! What a blessing for the three of you! Tell her I am so happy for her.
