Well, six weeks ago this coming Saturday I heard strange gurgling sounds coming from the basement toilet. I warned Jay as the last time that had happened we had a little water back up in our basement just before we left for Thailand. So, he got on the phone with an insurance agent for a company that we took a policy out on specifically for dealing with backups due to tree root overgrowth. As he was on the line asking them about how we'd go about getting someone out to clean out more overgrown roots, Penny was taking a shower. I went downstairs and saw a flood starting to overflow in our utility room and yelled upstairs to Jay, "You might want to have them come out NOW!" Well, that company as well as our homeowner's insurance company has been great about covering everything. We also have a great friend who is a private contractor who has been in charge of repairing the walls. In the end, the whole basement will look much better with new flooring and paint. Jay even installed a new light fixture. But, I sure have missed having my washer/dryer for over a month now. I'm so excited that the utility room will be done by the time we get back from L.A. Then we'll just need to wait for them to replace the carpet in the rest of the basement and on the stairs. But, I'll show you of the pictures I have so far of the transformation that has been taking place.
