Two Years Ago on Dec. 14th-15th

We flew from Udon Thani to Bangkok on Sun., Dec. 14th, 2008. From the airport we took a taxi to downtown Bangkok to stay at the Bangkok Christian Guest House (near the Sala Daeng train station). We ended up spending a lot of our time there and at the neighboring Central Department Store. That's where we ate most of our meals, except for breakfast and where we found an internet cafe.

On that Monday, the 15th, we had our first meeting at the Thai Adoption Center. We met the government worker who helps out all of the WACAP families. Penny was not used to the long taxi rides in stop-n-go traffic of Bangkok. Plus, she was looking down, reading a magazine....so, when we arrived there she ran for a bathroom and lost her breakfast. After going over some paperwork there we, along with some other families, were taken to another government office in Bangkok where Penny had her picture taken for her Thai passport. After that they dropped us off at a train station so that we could ride the train back near our guest house. We were all having some culture shock about the big city. I was just glad that I had learned how to live in the big city of Tokyo, so riding the trains didn't seem so foreign to me. We enjoyed visiting with a British family who was there adopting their second boy.

WOW! You three had a long journey to finally get her to the US! God gave you tremendous patience and guarded you with a lot of safety. Now, you are blessed with a very beautiful and very smart girl, Penny Regan. Have a very Merry Christmas. We leave for WY to stay with Jered's parents for 2 weeks. May the Spirit of our Savior bless you this Christmas and into the New Year.
Love,
Jered, Felice and Keleah Sandner

Such great memories. Seems like a lot of us have wonderful adoption stories/memories in the month of December!

Memories...Amarin was the same way in the taxis. After the first time of losing his breakfast, we always traveled with plastic bags. Thankfully, he's past that, because we tend to spend a lot of time in the van!
