The wonderful adventures of Jay and Chandra adopting their daughter from Thailand and living as adopted children of the Heavenly Father.

No news.... :(
We were sure hoping that we'd get a call by the end of the week telling us that the DSDW (Thailand Dept. of Social Development & Welfare) had reviewed our acceptance letter at their recent board meeting on Wednesday and stamped their final seal of approval on it. But, alas, again, we just WAIT. No matter how long you do this it's still not much easier. We also heard that at the same time there was, yet, again, more protests and political unrest happening in Bangkok. Between all of the adoption unknowns and all of the depressing news over the economy, etc. we are feeling rather burnt out and not even wanting to listen to the news at all. I'm just very thankful that we have jobs. It's not always easy to be a preschool teacher, especially on a day like today when I had a splitting headache all day long. But, I'm trying to count my blessings and be extra mindful of the moment-by-moment joys, like when one of my three year olds just suddenly hugs me and says, "I love you, Ms. Chandra!"

Chandra,
I'm so sorry you haven't gotten an update since the board meeting. I know how hard it can be to anticipate news and have to wait another weekend for it. During our Russian adoption was the only time I've looked forward to Monday's and dreaded Fridays. It was hope of news to come each week. God has a plan and although we do not know his plan, you are still on track to pick up your sweet daughter in Thailand. A friend of ours told us that maybe God has big plans for this child. Experiences he does not want them to miss. Maybe she is meant to say goodbye to one of her care group as they leave with their forever family. Maybe God wants her to spend a little more time with a child waiting for news of a mother or father coming for them to help encourage them. I don't know that we'll ever know the reasons for our wait, but God uses this time to grow the love of our children in our hearts and an appreciation for how far we've had to come to be a family.
Much Love!
Dear Jay and Chandra,
Our referral came through yesterday and Andrea said that you and we are the next in line to travel. She feels that we'll be home by Christmas. Wouldn't that be so very wonderful??? We are chomping at the bit to travel right along with you!!!
Hugs,
Chris
you will be in our prayer. Hope you have news soon
Julie
Maybe at next week's DSDW meeting... And if not that one, the next one. One of these times, it's going to happen!!! Praying for peace and contentment for you guys as you ride the waves and keep waiting - that the faith you have will be strengthened as you dwell on what you know rather than on what you don't...
