Time is Ticking Down
Today we went to the Thai Immigration Bureau to request to extend our 30 day tourist visa for another 30 days. Unfortunately, we were denied. But, they did grant us a courtesy 7 day extension, for which we still had to pay the full $110 fee. So, that means that our visa now expires on Jan. 14th instead of the 7th. We've rescheduled our flight to leave on Jan. 10th. We've informed the USCIS of our situation. Now we just wait during the long New Year's Break, hoping and praying that after all of their relaxing and partying that they will be in a good mood and come back and work diligently on our case next week so that we can leave before our visas expire. We don't even want to think about what we'll need to do if they don't. Penny is such a gem. She seems happier than ever after having seen her parents crying over our helpless situation. Right now she is typing her first e-mail message ever in Thai. It's taking forever, but she's working hard and will not quit until she's got it just right. We actually purchased a Thai keyboard for her at a very cheap price and shipped it to the States. Hope we can get home soon for her to use it.

Dear Chandra and Jay,
I'm so sorry to hear that you must wait until next week to complete your paperwork. You have been in my thoughts and prayers and I so hoped that you would be able to complete your adoption this week and come home. I agree that God has a plan for you in Thailand and maybe he is giving you this time to bond as a family. To allow Penny to understand the true emotions involved in an adoption too. My heart goes out to you during this wait.
So glad that Penny is reaching out for Jay. This is such a wonderful sign!!

Arlette has been keeping us posted, and we continue to pray. Hard to understand why all this waiting and frustration is necessary, but we trust that God is in control.
"Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings who cannot save . . . . Blessed are those whose help is is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God" (Ps. 146).

Hi Jay, Chandra and Penny! I am so sorry that this is happening to you. However, I do believe, as an evangelist once that "God uses everything and does not waste anything in our lives". He will be faithful to see you through this and to bring you out victorious on the other side. When I was going through cancer almost 16 years ago, one of my favorite pictures was of a little frog being swallowed by a huge crane. The little frog's head was down the throat of the bird, but the picture showed the little frog clutching the the bird's neck and his legs dangling out the bird's beak. The caption said, "Don't EVER give up!" Be greatly encouraged, dear ones, in the midst of such discouraging circumstances. With love, CHris for all the Arni crew
